I had a friend of mine who is a lesbian write in as a guest blogger... here is what she had to say :)

"
When a person asks me, “how long have you known that you were gay?” I have trouble answering that question. A common misconception about LGBT people is that that we have always known and accepted the fact that we were gay, bisexual, transgender, whatever. For me, at least, there was no defining moment when I realized that I was gay- it was more a slowly building realization and acceptance of myself to the point where I felt comfortable with letting other people in on this aspect of my life.
When I was in elementary school, I hardly even knew what the word “lesbian” meant. As far as I was concerned, girls ended up with boys and vice-versa. Still, I was painfully aware of the lack of interest that I had in boys. All of my friends would go on about boys as we got older and entered middle school. I wondered if there was something wrong with me. It was around that time that I began to feel very close to certain females in my life- in my mind these were nothing more than friendships, but subconsciously I wanted them to be more than friendships.
When I got to high school, I knew by this time that there was something different about me and I had begun to question my sexuality. It was as if I had been told that I had a terminal illness- I was in shock and did not believe that it could happen to me. So I chose to ignore the growing “problem” of my sexuality. I pretended to be interested in boys and at times was almost able to convince myself that I was. But in the end, my attraction to girls was something that I could no longer ignore. It had been causing me massive amounts of stress and my family and friends had begun to notice that there was something wrong with me. I spent about of year coming out to myself and accepting the fact that I was gay, and eventually started coming out to my friends and family. Their reactions were much better than I had even anticipated.
The point that I want to get across is, if you identify with being LGBTQ but are afraid to come out, the reactions that you get will most likely be much better than you anticipate. Because you feel alone and hopeless now doesn’t mean that you always will. It’s been a year since I started coming out, and it’s amazing how things have changed. All my friends and family accept me completely, and I met a ton of other gay/bisexual people (there are a lot more than you think)! My first dating experience with a girl was both amazing and a learning experience. My life is so much better than it was a year ago, and in my opinions, coming out (as long as you are in a safe environment) is worth it one hundred percent.
Love,
Christine.

Lesbian Terms!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzNQOI_EXlo

This is a girl named Jenna's video! She has a whole channel about lesbian stuff! It isn't as geared towards the bisexuals as much but she is very informative! This video is her talking about the different terms in lesbian relationships! It is really funny! The terms that she is describing is like code language for the gay community! It opens up a whole world that most people don't know about. If you are a bisexual and you are in a relationship with a girl a lot of things she talks about or words she uses will come up in the relationship (Uhal joke, gender roles, ect.)
Dear Bisexuals:

Invest in rainbows. Why? Rainbow as most people should know represents gay pride! Some people wear rainbows because they like them.  But if someone is truly decked out in rainbows they are most likely sending you a signal that they are either bisexual, gay, or heteroflexible.  I purchased a rainbow bracelet and already met a few other bisexuals.  Someone's sexuality isn't written on their shirt, we live in a society where people the majority of the time are straight; therefore people naturally assume you like the opposite gender.  If you are interested in finding a fellow bisexual, by wearing the bracelet you are showing that you have gay pride.  This lets them know that you are either gay, bisexual, or heteroflexible(a straight person who is comfortable and supportive of gay people).  Don't worry though! Straight people are usually not aware what rainbows mean! They don't really think anything of it because they aren't exposed to the meaning behind it, generally the only people who pick up on it are people who are just like you! If someone asks about the rainbow bracelet it is like they are sending you the signal that they recognize the meaning behind it.  To all the bisexuals (male or female) if you are just coming out or have come out but are still closeted I would like to tell you are not alone! There are tons of people out there for you to meet! 1 out of every 10 people identifies them self as gay or bisexual. I know tons and tons of people who are gay/bisexual.  There is like an underground railroad! Word spreads to only people that are safe to know or tell, once you come out there are a lot more people then you would think.  Pay attention to the rainbows! :)

The definition of a bisexual is someone who is emotionally and physically attracted to both genders. Bisexual however can be a term that covers many different sexualities.  What I call a True Bisexual is someone who is physically attracted to men and women, could fall in love with either gender, and they could end up marrying a man or a woman.

My defintions on some bisexuals:

70/30: A person who is mainly attracted to the opposite gender, occasionally they could swing to someone of the same gender, but they dont generally seek out the same sex.

"Beersexuals": A "bisexual" who kisses women (like in a club setting) to get the attention of men, is comfortable kissing a woman but isn't attracted to girls.

Bicurious: Someone who is exploring their feelings for how they feel twards each gender, and exploring their own sexuality.

A homosexual sorting through the process: Coming all the way out of the closet is hard and confusing! Society sends gays signals from the media that they should be straight, since the media aims at the larger population of straight people.  Homosexuals can be unsure at first. Also by saying they are bisexual the gay person can see how others feel about their same sex attraction and its a good halfway point before they come forward with others about being gay.

Phew! I think that pretty much covers the different "bisexual" groups.  A true bisexual can get sort of a bad repuation because a gay person could fall for someone who they thought was bisexaul but isnt really romantically or physically attracted to them fully. Or a bisexual could date another bisexual but one of the bisexuals could be gay and going through the coming out phase and so the bisexual will help them through it.  A barsexual can frusterate or confuse gays, bisexuals, or straight people even!

True bisexuals can have people say things to them like "This is a phase" or "You're gay you will figure it out eventually" or "Pick a gender you can't be in the middle" or "You're just doing it for attention." But being bisexual can be a sexual preference you remain as for the rest of your life and you wont transition or change from at all.  A True Bisexual isn't confused they just like both genders.

I decided to write something a little less heavy in this post...

A lot of people ask me what it is like to date a woman.  My first response is usually, "It is amazing."
What people don’t ever ask is what is the weirdest part about dating someone of the same sex.

One of the weirdest things is going on dates with a girl.  You can do things together that you both like.  Like as a date activity you can paint your nails, do each other’s hair, or go shopping for dresses.  This was kind of weird for me because I have never been on a date with a boy and said to him, "Now would you like me to paint your toes pink or purple?"

Another weird thing about dating a girl is you have so many things in common that are specific only to you gender so you can really talk in depth about something that someone of the opposite gender wouldn't understand, purely because they have never been through it. (shaving legs, craving chocolate, emotions)

But the weirdest thing by far is the bathroom situation.  My first date with a girl was at the movies.  After it was over we both had to go to the bathroom.  People in movies never tell you what to do in this situation! Do we both go in and use the bathroom in stalls next to each other? Do I go in and she waits outside? In the end we both went in together.  But it is so weird to try and impress your date and both walk into the women's restroom!

This speech is absaloutly beautiful! I love how this was phrased and the way she presented herself. The woman speaking is a republican(a party who is more often then not opposed to gay marriage). A lot of people think that if you are a republican you will take a stand on the issue as being against gay marriage.  The thing is Gays, Lesbians, bisexuals come in all shapes in sizes! They are actresses, models, Mormons, Christians, doctors, therapists, Republicans, and anything imaginable really. Just like there are people with brown eyes from different back grounds or different beliefs doesnt make them more or less likely to have brown eyes.  Brown eye people are everywhere, just like homosexuals.
